Rhythmic Caribbean Daydream

Having nearly exhausted all the nonfiction books on cassettes at my local library I am finally breaking down and requesting a CD / MP3 car player as well as an ipod shuffle for Christmas so that I can download and access the Harvard / Yale / MIT lectures through it.  Upon hearing this my youngest one laughs hysterically accusing me that I absolutely have no idea how to have fun, because who thinks of an ipod for the sole purpose of downloading lectures :)

Little did she know that this very morning I had started planning for a solo Caribbean get away for a well deserve week of vacation, probably in the Bahamas or the Dominican Republic.  I am leaning more towards the latter where I will make it into both hanging out at the beach as well as an anthropological field trip with esoteric groups.

This has triggered its own controversy in where Between March and December of this year every member of my tribe has or will take some sort of vacation.  They are telling me that those were not real vacation because it involved visits with family or known partners. I am all for taking tribal vacations together, but given that I am still gaining altitude there are enough resources for one more outing and I am taking it!

For tonight closing my eyes as I listen to one of my favorite songs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCGTX-og7kk

"Always hope that you remember . . .what we have is strong and tender hold on . . .in the middle of the madness when time is running out .. is stronger still .. .nothing can come between us. So it truly is a good thing . . . there is always this and this is everlasting . . .is about FAITH, is about TRUST ...'

Multiple images come to mind: one that of a passionate embrace where you hold on as the rhythmic pulse of the universe goes through you.  The other one of being in difficult passage of life where the only thing that will carry you through if faith and trust that your dedicated path to excellence will indeed take you where you know you destined to be such as tropical paradise sometime this winter.
