The pools at my gym are apparently closed indefinitely. They have to make so many changes to bring them up to code that they have to apply for a permit as if it's new construction, and it basically is, since they have to rebuild the entire pool area. They said they hope to *begin* construction by September and finish by the end of the year, but that's just a guess since their construction plans aren't final or approved by the city yet. Sigh....
They have offered a free upgrade to VIP status (which means I can take all their classes for free, rather than the quarter or so that are included in my cheaper membership) until the pools re-open. I'm actually kind of excited about that, as I'd like to give yoga another try and the free yoga classes really don't fit my schedule. I tried yoga last summer and loved it for about six weeks, then got really bored with it. This time I want to try a more dynamic class than the hatha I was doing then. I definitely need to work on flexibility.
None of this makes me more cheerful about losing my indoor swimming option for so long, though. With all the rain we've been having, I haven't gone swimming in over a week. :(
