Everyone yawned today. No. No, that's not quite the right tense. Everyone was yawning today. The day was not actually dreary, but I would not call it beautiful either. Perhaps the percentage of time the populace spent yawning was not any greater today, but it just happened in my vision more frequently than normally. Perhaps my appearance was dreadfully boring today, and every time someone saw me they instantly felt tired. Perhaps everyone was just yawning more today. Yet the last I remember yawning was yesterday. Nevertheless, my misuse of tenses in the first sentence does make me wonder whether every person does indeed yawn every day. I'm sure we must.
