More often than not the photographs I take don't tell a story and don't have any sort of human interest. Most people like portraits or street photography, because they are interested in people and their interactions. But I'm not most people. I always compare the sort of photography I like doing to abstract art. I like creating compositions of shapes and colours. They are aesthetically pleasing photographs, but there is no story. Not unless I sit and tell exactly where and how I took the picture.
So this picture was taken in the village of Arcalochori in Crete. A number of years ago, a group of us took part in an architectural competition for the design of a town hall complex for the region. Over my christmas holidays I took the boat to Crete and went with one of my colleagues to check out the site. I ended up also snapping a number of random photos from the village as well, and this is one of them.
