Who: Sniper, Scout and a bunch of children. What: Camping Trip! When: April 8th - 10th Where: Mayfield Park. Warnings: It is Sniper and Scout teaching basic survival lessons. You do the math.
You just had to give Margot a knife for the first task, didn't you?
Quite pleased with her new acquirement, the teen tosses down her stuff by her twin's, setting off to gather up some sticks. Bow hunting is something that's always intrigued her, but not something that she's practiced -- and why would she when she has long range magic?
But she throws herself into the task eagerly, clearly excited.
Scout's there to help, but would never admit that he really hasn't a clue what he's doing. He's still trying to figure out how Sniper roped him into this in the first place. And before he started working for BLU, he barely ever traveled outside of Boston, let alone ever went camping. Nevertheless, he'll come check on Margot's progress.
He nods. "Yeah, this kinda stuff is all Sniper's scene, not mine. But hey, gotta stand by yer teammates. I guess." He shrugs and sits down with her. "He's the one that like, lives in a camper van 'n' shit."
[Knife get. Hana scampers away to find a branch that would work, sticking the knife, sheath and all, in one of the pockets on his pants.... and promptly losing it without noticing.]
[He soon returns with as many branches as he can carry - which is quite a bit for a kid. Even just after a short time here, Hana's utterly ecstatic with something like this.]
Nadia is a good deal less enthused than her sister, but she's doing her best to hide the fact. The phone calls over the first week of April had rattled her severely and she had withdrawn, even going so far as to skip school a couple of days.
She takes her own knife and finds a spot a little ways away from the other campers, working on one of her sticks.
[Luke looks down at the knife, a little unsure of what to do with it. But in any case, he hurries off to find some strong-looking branches for carving. He's never made a bow in his life, and he wasn't too sure how well he could shoot, but he was willing to try.]
[As soon as he brought back what he though was strong branches, he listened carefully to Sniper's instructions. He sat down in the grass with one of the sticks, and with the knife, began to very cautiously scrap off the bark.]
[Seeing he was hesistant, Sniper would crouch down and watch. Just to let him know he was doing fine and it was safe. As safe as giving a kid a knife and teaching them to use a weapon ever was.]
[Kay takes the knife in hand, handling it rather gingerly and nervously at first - after all, she and knives had something of a history together, and the memories weren't exactly pleasant. Still, though, she could at least recognize the difference between a tool and a murder weapon, so she takes a deep breath and resolves to focus on the task at hand.]
"Hmmm... stick, stick, stick, where's a good stick..."
[She begins poking around the general vicinity, eventually coming back with two or three thin but sturdy-looking branches from under a nearby tree. Sitting down on the ground, she folds her legs underneath her and begins concentrating on the task of whittling the first branch down.]
[She inevitably screws one up by working it too hard, but that's why she's got spares with her. The second one turns out much better, and within minutes she's got a decent-looking branch whittled down.]
[He'd make a notch at the top and bottom and hand her the cord to string it. Showing her how to make it nice and tight, so when it pulled back it would snap back into place.]

Will these work?

Some of them might. Pick which one looks the sturdiest and most likely to bend without breaking and whittle it down.
[Handing him the knife again.]

Very nice work, very deliberate.
[Using his own knife he made a notch at either end.]
Now lets get this thing strung and get you some arrows so you can play with it a bit.
[Giving her the cord for the string, showing her how to tie it and test it.]

A good start, now just get it to be smooth, remove all the bark and make sure its not too thick for you to grip.

Good choices, when you're ready we can string them up.

Nice job. Now lets see.
