[Luke looks down at the knife, a little unsure of what to do with it. But in any case, he hurries off to find some strong-looking branches for carving. He's never made a bow in his life, and he wasn't too sure how well he could shoot, but he was willing to try.]

[Sniper would watch the kid go, waiting for him to come back.]

A good start, now just get it to be smooth, remove all the bark and make sure its not too thick for you to grip.

[As soon as he brought back what he though was strong branches, he listened carefully to Sniper's instructions. He sat down in the grass with one of the sticks, and with the knife, began to very cautiously scrap off the bark.]

Ah...like this?

Yes, very good.

[Seeing he was hesistant, Sniper would crouch down and watch. Just to let him know he was doing fine and it was safe. As safe as giving a kid a knife and teaching them to use a weapon ever was.]

[Luke smiles, then continues working on whittling down the stick, after so long he seems to be getting the hang of it, sort of. And he hasn't cut himself with the knife yet!]

[Sniper is a very patient man. He'd let the kid work at his own pace until he was done. Glad no one cut themselves... yet.

He'd then look the stick over and cut a notch into the top and bottom of it.

Handing it back with a cord to Luke.]

Now lets try stringing it, I'll help more with this part.

Alright, this shouldn't be too hard-

[He takes the cord, attempting to string it, but quickly finds out that it's much harder than it looks. Curse you, string.]

-or perhaps not.

It's okay, I didn't get anything right my first few trys.

[He'd show the kid how to stright the bow, making sure it was tight enough to bend the stick.]

[He watches carefully, and after some effort, manages to string the bow. The quality of it is about what you'd expect from a ten-year-old, but nonetheless he holds it up looking quite proud.]

I did it!

[He'd smile.]

Good job. Now take these arrows.

Over there are targets, pick one not used and stand behind the line in the dirt. Try to pull back an arrow and fire, I'll help you once I see what you can do.

[Luke nods quickly and does as he's told, and stands behind of the lines. He found it a little strange at all the targets were wearing red shirts, but he figured he could always ask about that later.

As he tried aiming the arrow, he felt a little unsure of what he was doing, and it showed. The arrow slips out of his hand and he looks slightly frustrated as he picks it up and tries aiming again.]

Come on...

[He makes another attempt to fire the arrow, but when he pulls back the string, the arrow slips and lands beside him, and the string snaps against his hand instead.]

Ah!

[He'll walk over and pick up the arrow.]

Sometimes you'll do that, just don't be afraid of the string. It only hurts for a bit. Now position your hand on the bow...

[Showing him where abouts to hold it.]

Now line you're arrow up just over your thumb. Then pull back the arrow with the string like this...

[Will show him how to draw back the arrow with the string so it doesn't escape him.]

Once you have it, try a test fire.

[He offered Luke a reassuring smile.]
