[Well, Karkat told her not to dress up, and she wasn't planning to. In fact, she had sniffed out the most lovely ensemble earlier- a bright yellow sweater combined with a red scarf, dark green shirt, and pants in an alternating pattern of orange, cyan, and magenta plaid. Red shoes were to complete the outfit. It had basically smelled like delicious fruit salad with a hint of wintergreen and Terezi was pretty sure it would have looked as good as it smelled

[He's extremely surprised to see her dressed up with her hair done differently, and he spends the next few seconds trying to decide if it meant she put extra effort in or if it's her way of making fun of him. Either way, like most trolls he has no sense for fashion and thinks she looks nice whatever she wears, even if it's something eye-searing an awful, but it makes him happy to think she bothered to put extra effort in for him.

He didn't bother bringing plant life or anything, because that custom seems a little strange to him, so he's just standing awkwardly with his hands in his pockets.]

She tugs at his shirt, but she doesn't lick it even though she really, really wants to. See, Terezi is taking this date thing pretty seriously! She's wanted to spend time with Karkat like this for a long while.]

[Adjusting his jacket, a little self conscious about it. It's not a big deal, since almost all humans wear colorful clothing, but it makes him feel like he's not anonymous right now, which is an irritating feeling. It's all Kanaya's fault.]
