[Karkat makes it to Terezi's a little before seven. He's feeling a little nervous, and not just because he's still concerned about being beaten by one of Terezi's human drone lusii. This whatever it's been has been going on with Terezi for some time now, but they've never tried to do anything like this. They've never had time to.
On the one hand, it feels nice to do something so normal with her. On the other hand, there's nothing normal about her, and he's worried about this boring her. He spent a lot of time trying to think of a plan for a date that she would actually enjoy; it was harder than he thought to rule out the tragic romance playing at the cinemas this weekend, but he thought he might be able to pull this off.
And then Kanaya had to ruin everything by insisting on picking out his outfit. He threw away the stupid boutonniere as soon as he managed to escape her chaperone gaze, but he's stuck with his hair neatly combed wearing a sharp blazer, slacks, and a shirt that is in a muted stripe rust color instead of something black and grey. It's awful; he told Terezi dressing up was stupid and they needed to do it, and now she'll get the wrong (well, right) impression that he's trying way too hard and she might even try to lick his shirt.
He quickly tries to get his hair back to normal with one hand and then knocks on her front door.]
