To Do list for today!

Just back from a skiing mini-break with my fam, and in addition to the usual work (unpacking, laundry, cleaning, ARGH!) I've got a fandom to-do list....

1)  Christmas Charity Story for urbanmama1 ....coming soon, "L'Esprit d'Escalier, or The Witch on the Staircase".....

2)  Oh, dear, last day for R/Hr award noms....

Oh, goodie! I can't wait to read it. Glad you had a good time skiing with the fam. wordsmithsonian was also skiing this past weekend. As a Miami girl, I could do tubing, but I'm a horrible skiier.

How old are your three, btw? Mine are (in one month) 9, 6 and 3.

I have 3 girls, 12, 8, and 5. I'm hoping I manage to get some writing done today, despite the fact that we got 18 inches of snow last night and they are all home DRIVING ME NUTS!

I think that fanfic writers who choose to work within the canon universe have a certain philosophy about writing and fanfic that is different from those who prefer AU...it isn't about forcing things to go your way as much as it is an exercise in flexing your writing muscles within the constraints of another writer's (JKR's) universe of characters. AU writing has its place, but canon writers don't usually get the respect they deserve in the fanfic world.
