Finally this weekend I took that long awaited road trip to Mysore on the bike...
Starting of at 7 AM in the morning from Bangalore, the first shock came even before I had left the city. It seems there was some flyover construction going on in banshankari and there was no diversion whatsoever for any alternate route. So after a few hits and misses I was finally able to get to the mysore road.
Continuing I took my first break @ ramnagaram. Mode famous by the movie Sholay, this place was the scene of shooting for the movie. The place is surrounded by rocks of huge magnitudes constituting the den of the most notorious gangster of Hindi movies.
The second surprise came around 30 km's after ramnagaram. It seems there is a McDonald @ the Highway. That to in the middle of nowhere. Now who would have expected. Surprisingly I found it to be full.
A shocker came almost immediately after leaving McD. It seems 10km's from there is a bridge across some creek. And the place was focal point for some agitation by the local villagers. There seemed to be a "Rasta Roko" abhiyan going on there. Even being on bike I was not able to get thru. So ended up loosing an odd hour there.
Finally, when I was able to get thru all this, I was so charged up that I ended up driving 50 km's flat out straight out to Shrirangapatna. That too @ 100 km/hr. Empty roads also were a very welcome sight. Had to eventually stop there becoz of heat, else would have continued off straight to Mysore. (It was almost 11 AM in morning with sun on top & I was wearing a jacket. Plus it had rained the night before. So was socked with sweat all inside).
Finally after reaching Mysore, met santa sing & finished off all the work.
(Actually I had gone there to get the bike's NOC). Eventually I started off back for Bangalore next day @ 1:00PM. I didn't think it was a good idea of drive in the night on a highway. So better in the sun that that.
Return trip was also the same (with thankfully no rasta roko). But this time stopped @ Coffee day instead of McD.
So all in all a wonderful experience. Driving alone can be a real fun.
