DAY 15
Havent updated in awhile and have no excuse since the hostel had wifi and the new hotel has wifi.
Well the tourney stunk for me too. In fact it was the worst overall tournament for the US women all year, and in all of my recent memory. I went 2-4 in the pools with terrible indicators and did not make it out of the pools. Both here and in Sydney when I lost bouts I lost them like 5-1 or 5-2, which is a weird new problem to be having. Maya thought I was just having a bad week. Kornel thought I was afraid to lose. Donna thought I was focusing on the negative. I'm having trouble figuring out what to learn from this tournament, because my fencing was so poor. It really felt like a step backward. My attacks were completely ineffective and I even failed in my process goals of trying to use time better and be patient. Many of my bouts were like only a minute or so long. Why???
Also, I have managed to develop a cold. But since the tourney was over I slept in and took it easy and drank orange juice, etc. Deborah and Ken were visiting from Boston and we went to Parc Jean Drapeau, which is on an island in the St. Lawrence. There was an "electronic music picnic"...mostly I just sat and people watched, but it was nice to be outside on a pretty day and hear music. The dancing was underneath this big Alexander Calder scupture. And I saw the biodome from the Expo 67. That was cool.
Yesterday we climbed Mount Royal and saw a women's world cup bike race. Neato. I'm not feeling like updating.
