i'm not sure what day it is
i have no idea what day of the trip this is. but i do know it's saturday and i'm not fencing.
that's because i lost to emakova in the round of 128. the round of 128. i feel a pathetic. the annoying this is i didn't have a horrible, horrible pool round (i went 3-2 because i had a 6 person pool again even though i was supposed to have a 7-person pool but one of the girls got sick and dropped out). i fenced a chinese fencer well and won 5-3, but i lost to a french girl by one touch in overtime and then a korean. in any case, in the 128 i drew the russian who had been in the top 16 and exempt from fencing for the entire season until last week. shitty luck! but you have to be able to beat anyone at anytime in order to do well at these things. i lost the bout 15-10 . so it was not a CRUSHING crushing, but enough of a crushing to make angry and me wish i had fenced better in the middle of the bout when i made a bunch of silly mistakes and lost control of the tempo. I WANT A DO- OVER! I KNOW I CAN DO IT BETTER NOW!
anyway so now i'm sitting in our new accommodations--the apartment suites--which is a lot nicer than the hostel. we're getting catherine to stay with us so it will be a descent price...we almost got REALLY bootleg and stayed at the Y. the YWCA here is actually nicely located, clean and has a cafe with wireless access in the lobby. the only strange thing would have been some of the other guests. but we've nixed the idea and decided to stay here.
so tomorrow is the team event. then we stay here for three more days and after that it's off to havana, where lindsay and i will seek revenge and have an incredibly super fantastic tournament, reclaiming lost points and positioning ourselves for nationals, which will solidify our making the team and going to worlds. that's the plan!
