Yesterday was a bit of a wash. Woke up at about 1 PM after trying to sleep off the results of the drag race night. :P Tim came up from Wichita and hung out for a couple hours while we waited on another friend to drop by with another driveshaft to use in my car. After which we went to Wichita and hit up the Golden Corral for a good old buffet, only to be ignored by our waitress for 30 minutes until I finally decided to wave her over. She thought we were in another waitress' section, turns out she was mistaken. She made up for it though, the remaining service was great!
After getting my fill of food and vowing never to eat again that night, we caught the movie Inglorious Basterds. Holy shit, Tarantino is a genius! I highly recommend that movie. Blood, gratuitous violence, and funnier than hell! XD I'm buying that movie for sure once it comes out. The only downside is that we were in the 4th row (not by choice) in the largest theater in town. I had to look left to right to be able to read subtitles on the screen. My neck hates me. :P
After 2.5 hours of that, I retired home for the night. Today I woke up a little earlier, but didn't get off my ass until noon. I went over to the storage facility and traded the Malibu for the old Cherokee so I could work on it. Mainly I wanted to install a thermostat switch for one of the cooling fans, fix the locks (they don't like to unlock), and trouble shoot the electrical system. Turns out there was a half volt difference between the engine block and the chassis. That may explain some of my driveability issues. :P A couple of wires running from the intake manifold to the chassis fixed that.
Then I started to clean the interior and found the carpet was damp, "Shit." The Jeep has a chronic water leak from god knows where. Either way I have both the front seats sitting in the cargo area and the carpet pulled up to air out for the next couple days. Looks like I'm riding the motorcycle to work tomorrow, but weather should be on my side *fingers crossed*.
I find myself wondering why I bought back the damn thing. Sure, it's neat to have my old high school vehicle back. However, that novelty quickly wore off and now I'm left with another vehicle to pay taxes and insurance on, find a place to store, and keep in repair. Once the carpet airs out, it's going on Craigslist now. No one bit when I had it up for $1500. I figure I'll try $1200 OBO. I want it gone before winter because a lot of the problems it has only show up when it gets cold outside. :P
I'll admit though, I'd love to have a newer Cherokee. Do a diesel swap using a Jeep Liberty engine and I'd have a nice and capable SUV that'd get 28 mpg. :> Trouble is, a Liberty engine runs about $3000. Ouch!
