What gives this mess some grace

My last entry was dated for October 2007, its really too much time to even cover in an entry or even a few. In a brief rundown, things included:

two haircuts,
three shows (Tempest, Gillian, and Rabbit Hole)
? New CD's,
1 new cd player for the jeep
1 horribly lost golf game
13 summer league frisbee games
1/2 of a new book
a few dozen poems
a new love for egyptian scales
1 or 2 personal philosophies changed or adapted
1 discovery of a moxie milkshake
1 Ted Leo concert
1 Fiery Furnaces Concert
1 Daniel Johnston Concert
1 Black Mountain concert (EPIC)
the invention of the phrase "prebussing"
reconnected with some past selves
1 new passion for string theory and astronomy (kudos to Carl Sagan)

I have been trying to stop disliking things. I had the revelation when I refound my love for Sting. I thought, there are plenty of people who dont like Sting, so if I think they're wrong, couldnt I be? And I've been trying to shed myself of prejudices against music, movie, clothing, or any other kind of taste I used to regard as very important.
The class in high school that was a freshmen when I graduated has graduated. In two years, I'm going to be finished with college. Its hard to believe, looking from the perspective of someone who once worked at LL Bean with no prospects, that I'd ever really be close to graduating.

I have begun to suspect my inability of being able to be a professional actor. For the first time ever I had a legitimate string of shows back to back, and considering that is the best case scenario for an actor, I'm not sure I would be able to do it. Acting is someting I love doing, its something I do. The same applies to music. Its something I love, and something I do. But something I've discovered is that writing is what I AM. Which, doesnt get me any further really, two goals, both longshots.

My favorite bands used to be only three: Led Zeppelin, Porcupine Tree, and the Pretty things. Now, it has to be considered that Okkervil River and Black Mountain are both in the top five as well. If anyone hasnt heard it, get Okkervil River's album "The Stage Names" it is transcendent. And Black Mountains "In the Future" Might be the best rock album to come out since Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album.

haha well, this has been sufficiently self indulgent, which makes sense I guess, for is there anything really more self indulgent than a live journal? Its possible there is not, except a facebook page, maybe.

One last note: according to quantum physics, the only reason we stop when we run into something is because the atoms and electrions happen to hit together to prevent you from passing forward. However, the uncertainty principle says that it is only a chance that this happens. Granted, a very large chance. However, if you were to walk into a wall constantly for, about, the life of the universe, eventually this probability would come into play, and once you would pass right through the wall. When I told Ben this, he said:

"I'm going to walk into the tree in front of my house every day"

So anytime you run into anything, just think "damn, bad luck"
