Well, here I sit, and my departure for ColossalCon is in just six days - even less depending on how plans work out. Looking forward to it rather a lot, and to TrotCon after it. Obviously everything I plan for both will be in the name of maximizing the fun that can be had with that period of what's going to be seven days in the end.
Thing of it is, organizing those days has become kind of an issue in my mind. I made a plan and it goes a little like this;
- I have three vacation days to distribute to the two weekends
- the plan from the start was to take the Friday and Monday flanking Colossal to get down in a reasonable timeframe and have one full day to put my mind back together afterward
- the remaining day was to be for after TrotCon, again for the process of re-aligning my prana back into the more daily flow
Now, however, I started considering a different way to do it, namely that instead of using one day for TrotCon at all, take off both Friday ~and~ Thursday before Colossal so as to more easily get myself into the convention mindset and also have a little more time to make sure my plans are all ironed out and everything in alignment. See, last year TrotCon got no days off because that's just how things ended up, and I managed alright because it was such a low-key, laid-back affair that there was really nothing to recover from. However, I looked back through older logs, and my reports seem to indicate that ~having~ a recovery day post-Trot last year would have been good. So... hard to really formulate just what I'll do with things. I'm in somewhat better condition to handle a rapid con-reality transition this year as opposed to last (or so I think anyway), but maybe having an extra day really would be the best thing. I'll meditate on this later.
Additionally, while it was in doubt for most of the year so far, I am in fact back on for TFCon at the end of July - and thankfully that means I'll have 5-6 weeks between the upcoming two cons and that one, plenty of time to build my cash reserves for my second Canadian invasion in as many years. I spent on the order of $500 at TFCon last year and brought home some serious gems - I would be endlessly tickled (please smack me if I ever say that again) if I could double that budget for this year.
Anyway, today I'll probably be sitting down specifically to pencil in the con plans (what to pack, what to ~wear~, tentative budget, y'know) ~and~ visiting the first of the normally-three Evil Geniuses summertime meetings, and if the weather report is wrong and we ~don't~ get thunderstorms rolling through later in the day, there'll be a Nerf zombies game going on after sundown. Got some good potential for fun today - let's see how it pans out.
Peace and love, kids.
- Max out
