Cresting a nice technical wave

Now that I have had time to digest the announcements from Apple's Developer keynote yesterday, I'm happy to say that I'm glad that Apple jumped ship from IBM's chip producer and joined Intel. Their road map to the next five years of chip design bodes well for Macintosh owners and future owners.

I've just found out that my request for a single technical demo model of the new Intel Xserve blade for our business was doubled! We'll have two new blades to replace our aging core servers. I may even take one of the better surviving units home for my own home office use. A couple of new hard drives is all I'll need. The motherboards are fully populated with RAM and won't be of any use with the new models.

And as far as buying a new Mac Pro desktop goes, I'm going to invest in replacing my iBook G3 first. Like most of my friends, I'm going to hold out until Apple ships OS 10.5 sometime next Spring. And I hope a new version of iLife will have shipped by that time as well.
