Well okay the last week or so has been interesting, actually let's start on June 21, 2006.
-June 21, 2006-
This was the day after my Dallas Mavericks lost to the Miami Heat. I was doing a lot better than I thought I would be after such a crushing lost but don't get me wrong I still wasn't myself. Unfortunately I had a job interview that day--I thought I could fake the perk but I couldn't, you could tell I wasn't myself. My voice sounded so cynical and almost monotone, which isn't the best thing to have when applying to be a kids camp counselor for YMCA (hahaha I know, "Richelle with kids, wtf!?" I'll explain that in a bit). Anyways she asked me how well I can take the heat since the job is mostly outside and jokingly yet with full sincerity said "I love the heat, the only heat I hate are the Miami Heat." We got a little giggle in after that.

So they hire me, I sign papers and what not and take home the new employee manual that, yes, I did read...well most of it. It was had a bunch of cheesy sayings like "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA." "The biggest gap in the world is between 'I should' and 'I did.'" etc. So anyways, the more I read the manual the more apprehensive I became because "The Qualities of a good Counselor" is basically full of stuff that I am not...and I don't consider it a bad thing either.
-June 23, 2006-
First day on the job, I wore jean capris and my Tiger Newspaper staff shirt (you know gotta represent yo). So there are about 250 kids in the camp; it's separated in 5 groups: lowercamp boys, lowercamp girls, uppercamp boys, uppercamp girls and teen camp. So I was left in charge of my first group BY MYSELF, it was group of kids who either didn't have their swimming gear, was not allowed to swim or simply didn't want to swim. It wasn't too bad, plus there were two little boys from upper camp group who was nice enough to kinda help me. Then hours pass, there was a shaving cream fight amongst the counselor--fun stuff, then I had to get hosed down, walked in soggy sneakers the whole day...not that great of a feeling.

So it was eight o'clock in the morning and Anthony Williams calls me...I don't know what happened but he somehow talked me into doing a carwash fundraiser for that early in the morning. It was in front of Riverdale 10, we got to shoot a commercial plugging Over the Hedge. After the carwash the owner of Riverdale 10 was kind enough to have a free viewing of Over the Hedge, the movie was pretty cute (Hoodwinked was tighter!) Then I had to go dog sitting for my cousin Mike and my aunt Norma. Well I've dog sitted my cousin's dog before, Drake--a huge chocolate lab...weighs more than me (so walking it would be out of the question, in turned he'd walk me), goofball who just wants to loved and played with. Then there are my aunt's dogs, one of em I've already sitting, which is Savanna (she's old) and ugh she got a new dog, a small dog it was like a weiner slash beagle, named LuLu and omfg it was such a little bitch (hahaha pun).
-June 26, 2006-
Went back to work at YMCA at nine in the morning...wore my LRCH Renaissance Fair shirt (is it weird that I miss that school so much and every time I'm downtown and have enough time I pass by the campus). Nothing too out of the ordinary, I was with the uppercamp boys mostly. One thing kinda bugged me though, like why are fifth grade boys still crying over a small scratch and still having problem sharing...I swear my class was never like that when I was in elementary, shit I stopped crying a before pre-K. I swear when we were growing up it was like they knock you down, you get back up and knock them out...we were a bunch of tough asses. Jeez kids these days...SPOILED. I got my eyebrows done, so I wouldn't have that eyebrow tan line cause with this counselor job I was gonna get really really dark.
-June 27, 2006-
Worked from nine to three (boss lady, Ms. Kelly let me out early because there were too many counselors), wore my brown Tiger newspaper shirt from the '04-'05 season. Oh and I was put with the uppercamp boys again...well most of the time. I don't know why people say girls are easier to take care of, I like the boys soo much more, uppercamp boys are the best, I think they're easier to deal with.
-June 28, 2006-
Go to UCA. No work! Thank god, cause I am so not cut out for this job. So I applied to 36 places, three people said I was over-qualified (wtf, is there even such a thing) but the one place that does hire me is the one I'm actually not really qualified for. But I took it because I got desperate and there were the only on to call back.
-June 29, 2006-
Went to work at nine, wore my LRCH's The Pix yearbook staff shirt. Another normal day, it might have been my best day cause it seemed like I actually did something that day, it wasn't much but it was something. Then I proposed the camp yearbook idea (which I already finished the cover), she liked it but I had to get an estimate on how much the printing will cost.
-June 30, 2006-
So it's only been my first week and I definitely already wanted to quit. But I had to keep it cause it was so hard to get this job alone and to find a new one would be impossible. So I go to work at nine, wore a plain white tee and a green tank underneath Ms. Kelly said I could go home early so I got to leave at twelve. I go home and I take at nap then around 1:58 pm I get a call from Hobby Lobby asking for a job interview (their timing could not have been better)--so they hire me but now I had to quit YMCA.
-July 2, 2006-
Natalie has a pool party and I got to meet her boyfriend, Brian. Kyle! We still need to talk to the dude!
-July 3, 2006-
Holy shit, I had to quit YMCA today, I was nervous because I didn't know how. This harder than breaking up with someone, now I know why guys have such a hard time breaking up with girls...they're hella intimidating. Anyways I go there tell them I got another job and instead of quitting definitely I got put on Child Watch instead which is a day care for the people who have kids that need to exercise in the YMCA...which actually works quite well with my schedule at Hobby Lobby. So now I go to Hobby Lobby, sign papers, watch the employee video and then I went to work as the new part time cashier, left at nine at night. The people were really nice. So year I have two and a half jobs now; YMCA child watch, cashier at Hobby Lobby and if the price is right with the presses I shall be making YMCA Camp's yearbook, which I'm so excited for I hope I could find a cheap printing company.
job,
