(no subject)
Boy howdy, this whole "lack of forum" thing sure keeps my LJ updated in a timely manner!
......I hope the forum comes back. It would really disappoint me if they decided not to repair it after all and just left it to die. I kind of get the feeling that's what's going on. But then, I'm a pessimist.
It's getting late into summer, so I kinda think my summer volunteering project is gonna die before it even starts. It's a little depressing. since that was kind of my plot to get out and meet people for once. I live in the middle of nowhere and work an evening shift, so my entire social life has revolved around my immediate family and you internetty types since I graduated two years ago. (I don't really have anything in common with most of my coworkers, and the majority of them work 9-5 anyway.) Yeah.
I don't really do the whole bar-hopping thing; I'm not much of a drinker and the hours after my shift are NOT times I'd want to be spent in a bar downtown all by myself. Plus I live an hour away from town (like 45-50 miles maybe?) so it's not like I could drink anything anyway unless I wanted to shell out cash to stay at a hotel.
Most clubs and social activities take place during the middle of my shift.
So basically the volunteer thing was a plot to meet people and get out of the house without spending a lot of money, while being able to say I was doing something helpful for someone.
Okay, aside from me being a spoiled little jerk who whines about things not going her way, we're going on a cruise to Alaska for a family vacation later this year. So that's cool. Personally Alaska isn't my dream localle (because I swear the moment anyone starts talking about politics on that vacation BECAUSE IT'S ALAAAASKA I will f*cking jump overboard) but it's supposed to be pretty so that should be interesting.
