more time
I wish days were 40 hours long. Why 40, I don't know, but that's more than 24, and I can't seem to do everything I want to do during 24 hours without sacrificing sleep.
First off, I have a great alarm clock. My alarm clock always gets me up between 6:00 and 6:30 in the morning without fail. Unfortunately, my alarm clock does not have a snooze button and only gets louder and more annoyed the more I try to ignore it in the morning. My alarm clock is, of course, my child. I do put her to bed at 7:00 pm, so she does sleep for about 11 hours straight, which is exactly what kids her age should be doing. But since I like my eight hours of sleep, I try to go to bed around 10:00 pm, though no later 11:00 pm. And that gives me about three hours in the evening to do everything else that I didn't get a chance to do during the day.
I spend all day with Stephanie. She is ALWAYS with me. (I'm not complaining; I love it that she's always with me.) Because she is still so little, she has to be. I won't let her out of my sight for more than a minute, literally. We read books. We play on the floor. I chase her around. We go to the grocery store, to parks, to the mall. Somewhere in there I can get a few chores done, maybe a couple pans washed or a load of laundry folded. After she's in bed, I get a chance to do uninterrupted cleaning. There are toys to pick that have gotten scattered all over the house. I eat, because sometimes during the day there just isn't enough time to do enough of that either without get interrupted.
So I do everything I have to do, and then there's everything I want to do, like update my LJ. Really, throughout the day there are things that I'd really like to blog about, but I have to wait until later since I'm busy busy busy as a mom. Evening comes, chores get done, and somehow before I know it, it's time to get to bed because 6:00 am will be here soon enough. I want to play silly logic games online, I want to do my 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle (if I had space to do it somewhere), I want to play around with my camera and edit pictures and dream about being able to purchase a $400 50mm lens for my camera. And naturally there's more. I do find a little bit of time to do a little bit of these things most evenings (except for the puzzle since I really do need a lot of space that I just don't have).
And here now I've spent time writing about how I don't have time to write about things I'd write about if I had more time.
