As The Stranger says, FUCK YEAH!!!
It's been kind of interesting here on the ship. Most of the crew voted McCain and most of the scientists voted Obama, so there's been a conscious effort to avoid political discussions. There has been an unspoken tug-of-war between Fox "News" on the crews' part and any other news channel on the scientists' part. Now that the election is over, it's kind of funny to watch the Fox anchors sulk.
I watched the concession/acceptance speeches last. McCain's speech was beautifully written and gracefully delivered. It made me have more empathy for him than I have thus far. Obama's speech was quite good, too. I hope it's more than just talk.
Both Cali's Prop 8 and Florida's Amendment 2 passed. I thought at least Cali would be better than that. It sounds like the same-sex marriages that already happened will stay valid, but I doubt we've heard the end of this. The mayor of San Fran is handing out marriage certificates this morning in spite of (to spite?) the new law. Good for him!
