FE: Awakening is one of the most fun games I've played in a while. While I don't think the story is quite up to par with some of the earlier entries, it is still ridiculously fun.

I've been playing with so many ideas (teaching, nursing and now this) since graduating high school that I frankly had no clue what I'd do with my life. It feels great to make up my mind. (Just hope it doesn't change yet again.)
I do feel iffy about Awakening's story, but it's not the worst I've seen. For that matter, I've never been unsatisfied with the stories of all FE titles I played in the past.
Worst, no. The first time on the ride, it's pretty enjoyable. It's the second (or seventh) time that you start to see a lot of the problems in the story. Particularly with the Avatar/Robin. I won't say more for sake of spoilers and because I already made an LJ post on the matter, but in many ways I feel like the Avatar actually is what hurts Fire Emblem Awakening's story the most. But, that's just my opinion. Still a blast to play with some of the best integrated game mechanics to date and some of the supports are gold mines for laughs. It's still definitely worth a play if you can spare the money and/or time.
Good luck with transferring! It can be a lot of work sometimes, but it's definitely worth it.
The story of Awakening is... something, but it is pretty fun to play at least. When you play, don't even bother with Normal. Go right to hard; the game is an absolute joke otherwise.

Like I said to BK, I think the story's odd. The whole "kid" thing kind of set me off at first, but the direction's pretty interesting. Never imagined being able to pair an avatar with one of your favorite characters (though I think there are a few options for pairing for MyUnit in FE12 as well).
I know for sure I wouldn't play normal mode. Most of the FE titles I've played are way too easy in normal, even without level grinding or arena abuse. I was even disappointed with RD hard mode after Part I. xD
FE12's MU cannot be paired, to my knowledge. There's some romantic tension with Katarina, regardless of your avatar's gender, but no pairing options.
I feel like "Robin" is actually an interesting character -- sadly, fandom just sees MY UNIT!! and erases his/her actual storyline and personality in favor of their bland, overpowered self-insert. As expected, of course -- see also: every FE6 tactician story ever.
I'm not honestly great at FE -- I usually play on normal or sometimes hard. FE13's hard is a joke to me. Anyone who calls FE8 the easiest in the series is barking up the wrong tree now :P
Oh, guess I was wrong about MyUnit, then. Oops. But yeah. Those self-inserts... xD I forgot they existed for a little while. I never looked, but I'm sure some have already written FE13 self-inserts since the game was released. Wouldn't want to bother looking in the first place. (To be fair, though, that is how I got into FF.)
Awakening looks broken because of the tier system. Caps that are even higher than the tier 3 caps in RD? And being able to reclass as often as you like (unless there's a limit)? And I thought bonus exp in RD was broken to begin with.
But yes, dat jelly. I've kinda felt out of the loop, FE-wise, since the most recent title I have is Shadow Dragon... that'll be addressed one of these days. xD
