Life, things, and a question.

Soo....yeah. I'm like, awesomely great at keeping up to date on Livejournal and all that. Did you know you can only go so far back on your friends page before it stops showing you posts? Ahem.

I've been busy. Nothing new there. Currently doing a GP rotation, which is fun in a relaxed sort of way. It's interesting to note that I can actually diagnose folks, I know what medicines to prescribe 99% of the time, and it doesn't involve sweating blood. It's not my thing, really, because when it gets 'fun' (ie, complicated, serious), the patient heads off hospital-wards, but it is a very different aspect of medicine than I'd previously experienced. Also because, well, I never see my own GP (OK, like, four times in the last 12 years? Maybe?), so the whole concept of a longer, more intensive relationship with patients was a bit of an abstraction. It's also refreshing that I get to see patients several times, follow a case for more than the incidental outpatient clinic appointment, ER visit, or hospital admission.

I've currently got a week off, so naturally (being the idiot I am), I'd accepted 13,000 words (medical policy documents, so interesting, but still, 13,000 words) of translation. To do in two days. Which I did, and then promptly did very little other than faff on day 3. Which is annoying, because I've got instruments wanting to get builts. I've since remedied that; that pointy lefty metal guitar is pretty far along now:

back's pretty too, although the cavity cover needs redoing. Tomorrow!

It's frighteningly light, weighing in at 2.14 kg, with the hardware not mounted adding up to less than a kilo, and it balances perfectly. Lightest guitar I've ever built, I think. OK, maybe the acoustic's a little lighter.

Beyond that, a quesiton for you maccites-who-still-have-a-PC-somewhere: is there a reasonable way to set up extra storage, for cheap monies, that's nice and huge and that both a PC and a Mac will be able to read? Because I'm not feeling the love for FAT32 formatted 500 GB external drives if I want to do some video editing (files bigger than 4 gigs) and general archiving. Some form of dinky (wireless?) file server setup for not too crazy amounts of cash viable?
