Ordered a new Dell...
...and feeling good about it. Yes, a New Dell is a big lump of cash (if you get shiny new large screen with it) but with 3 years' hardware warrantee, no fussing about whether it'll work or not, a fair price, a nice new screen, plenty of extra space, I'm happy about it. No question. I'll be transferring the cash later today.
I will, eventually, get this machine up and running using 'cheaper' new components, probably move it into a smaller case (this one's big, ungainly, and kinda broken), and then, once it works, give it to my parents, who are still running a really old Dell Pentium III (first generation). So it certainly won't go to waste. Heck, I've still got a PII downstairs in a cupboard that could play server...
