I'll get to the topic in a moment, but for now here's an update. Life sucks, I'm working nights and they are slower than molasses running up a mountain in January, and that's FUCKING SLOW!!!! But other than that, life is alright, I ordered the d20 sourcebook and weapons locker book and am going to start putting together RP campaigns for when I get back to Greenville, should be pretty epic. Beef finally got the pics from WC up so if anyone wants to see what it was like check em out on the OOC NC Boards.
So onto my topic, which in turn relates to the quote at the end of my post. When I was a home I got into a little bit of a spat with my pastor, ok I got pissed and walked out in the middle of service. Probably cause it was Memorial Day weekend and he said nothing about the troops or the men and women who died to protect the freedom's that those of you living in the state's enjoy. I was pissed, still am, and probably won't be going back to that church. Maybe it's just me but I can't stand someone who isn't the tiniest bit thankful for not having to go to war because someone else went. That's why I joined, so that I could look the civilian in the eye and say to them, 'Me and not you. I'll pay the price, you reap the benefits." A soldier understands the sacrifice and payment that Freedom demands and for us the taste is something indescribable. I'll leave you with two quotes
People sleep peacefully at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
For those that fought, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
