Goddammit! COSI is apparently not important enough for people to give 5 bucks a year for property taxes in Toledo. Thus, at the end of December, COSI Toledo will close unless some sort of miracle bails it out of financial issues. More than 10 years of educating children and getting them excited about science is apparently not impressive enough for 51% of the voting population. Not only will this negatively impact all of Toledo, as COSI was one of the few reasons to venture downtown (other than alcohol, it seems), but it also hurts the children who might otherwise have used science knowledge/passion gained at COSI to better their understanding of the Universe.
Oh, and I'll be out of a job too.
That honestly isn't as big a deal to me. 90% of this country is woefully ignorant of how science works. They think that lab coats, expensive equipment, and large words are all that's necessary to practice scientific modalities. No, I'm sorry, it's not. The methods, when correctly used by scientists are what makes it so useful. I could do research in whatever I wanted and claim I found whatever I wanted and that wouldn't be science.
