Woah am I tired. This weekend I left DC to go visit my brother and sister-in-law with my Mom and the dog. I left my apartment at 5:45AM for Dulles - while 5:45AM may seem early, I made it worse by not going to bed at all! I pulled an all nighter for absolutely no reason....well not really, I had a ton of work to do and I was glad to get it all done before I left. It made "vacation" much more relaxing.
Some would definatley call Fort Drum, NY relaxing - I call it boring...extremely boring...like put the gun in my mouth and pull the trigger boring. While their house is adorable, their neighborhood (being of all military personnel) is full of two things; kids and dogs. Duke of course loved it and I wouldn't have minded it so much if it wasn't so far away from our home in CT. But all in all, despite their horrible internet service, their widescreen HDTV is quite impressive and it was good to see them before they leave for Iraq. They found out today that they will be leaving on Thursday. Two major downsides to this weekend asides from internet and boredom...I most likely have TMJ and when trying to stop my dog from chasing another, I lost a good chunk of skin off my middle finger to the point now where it hurts to bend it. The only advantage is that I've been giving everyone the finger since Saturday night.
My grandfather has survived round one of chemotherapy. Who would have ever thought chemo could make you better?!? Definately not the experience my family is accustomed to. He was quite ill before treatment started and nervous about it as anybody would be but now, in the week after his first treatment, he is doing great. He looks better, is energetic, and is eating - hopefully the rest of the treatments will continue to go so well.
I left from CT to DC this morning and immediately drove downtown to pick up a table top fountain I got on craigslist. It is in the corner of our living room and I absolutely love it! The motor is quiet and the fountain is lit so it acts as a nightlight too. After that, I went to AU where I sorted the rest of the choir music in preparation for the start of the semester and continued to do some Derby Days stuff as well. I concluded the evening with a physics lab, or a very sad attempt to do a physics lab, and eating a container of ben and Jerry's ice cream to the point where now I can't stop bouncing up and down.
I leave DC again for CT on Friday and this time for two weeks. There is a lot to be done here as well as home and somehow I have to find a way to pretend like I am in both places at once. I am hoping to not have to make a trip back to DC during the time or cut my trip short but the chances are high. I'd really like to stay in CT and just relax but there is furniture to be moved, events to go to, friends to see before we all start our senior years, vacationing with the Wilks on Martha's Vineyard, and hopefully making it into NYC sometime too to see Avenue Q.
For now, I best take a tylenol PM and get to bed. I have to be up a bit earlier than normal tomorrow so that I can pick up some more stuff for our living room and kitchen I got for free on craigslist.
Goodnight!
