OK - so much for this semester being my worst academically. Here's what has happened since the last update...
I continued to hate my computer science class with professor owrang...aka professor orangutan as my mother calls him. However, I was resolved to pass the class or die trying. I retyped all of his hand written note sheets into a 20 page study guide and spent the two days before the final and the day of the final memorizing the entire packet. The exam had 13 questions on it - and it was a cummulative exam - and I knew 11 right away. The other 2 I made some creative answers up. I didn't feel great about it but I did the best that I could do. I was just glad to be done ... it was my last final. All my other exams went really well, even piano - I got an A and some amazing feedback from Yulia and a wonderful complement from Alan.
I flew home last Wednesday and got to spend two days at home. My Mom was really excited for me to see the renovation progress. The new space is unbelievable - her master suite is going to be so gorgeous. The new family room is really amazing; standing at the end of our old hallway and looking through what used to be my Mom's bedroom into the new space makes the house feel so big. And I can get to the garage without going outside for the first time in my life.
I drove back to DC on Friday and gathered up all my music for upcoming performances. I also repeatedly checked my grades - as I had done for the last few days - and that's when it happened....all of my grades were finally in. DRUM ROLL PLEASE:
Design and Organization of Computer Systems ... the one I was supposed to fail - B!!!!!! Didn't look bad against 4 A's, an A-, and a B+ (which was an 89 ... ONE POINT).
I don't know how this happened but studying that hard must have really paid off. That or he is just as dumb as I think he is and didn't submit my correct grade - either way, I got credit for the class and my life plans are back on track.
I had Jen and Eddie over to the apartment to celebrate passing. The next morning I had a rehearsal for the St. Dunstan Choir's performance of Mozart's Missa Brevis in D Major. Then I played at graduation mass and a graduation party in Bethesda for a Kogod MBA. I played for 3 hours straight without stopping for food or water and then enjoyed some good conversation with everyone there. The graduate and his partner were really friendly and their neighbor, Mary Jo, was so cool. She sent me home with so much food...including pineapple soaked in tequila and brown sugar. After the party we went to Tomas' and had a great time eating pancakes and celebrating that we were SENIORS!
Sunday morning's performance of Mozart was really great and it was great to work with Julie again. Amy and I went out to Panera (my first time there) after church and enjoyed our goodbye lunch....ahhhh, sad. I then started packing up 238 thinking it wouldn't take long - hahahaha, 7 hours later I had finally finished. I wanted to leave AU by 6PM to surprise Mom around 11PM but unfortunately I stayed the night in the apartment and left the next morning at 7AM. That still allowed me to get home way before she expected and I still surprised her...and brought her home a card and plant for Mom's day.
On the way home, I called Marla to tell her about the B in CSC-521 and all she did was laugh and then my phone rang and it was citi group. They wanted to offer me a managers position in a new facility they were opening. While I have a job already, I interview next week. Then this morning Archstone Smith called me to offer me a front desk position (again) and today when I was coming home from the dentist a woman called to offer me another IT position in a company right outside of DC saying she was impressed with my resume. And I was worried about finding a job?!?
My plan is to interview all over, get my name out there, keep the job I'm currently signed on to, and then hope that these offers continue this time next year when I'm trying to pay for Kogod Business School so that I can get my masters in IT.
I leave CT on Friday with furniture and then start the wonderful unpacking process. Although I do have to use our truck to get Natalie's couch and Tomas' desk from PB. Then our living room will actually have something in it to sit on besides the coffee table! YAHOO! And my mattress got delivered today no thanks to sears...who have the most incompetent and unfriendly delivery men ever. Thanks to my roommate Steph for being there to straighten everything out.
Now its time to go do a little more browsing on ebay, craigslist, and freecycle for a piano, bookshelves, and a smoothie maker (for margaritas of course)!
