[The following is NFL talk; you have been warned.]
So for those not following along, the Ravens starting number 1 Wide Receiver, Mason, decided that he was going to retire a couple of weeks ago; he has yet to file the official paperwork with the team, so he might reconsider, but currently, no dice.
If Mason goes through with it, it would be a devastating loss to the Ravens, who have nobody behind Mason that can match his production, and considering the team was hoping for another shot at the division title, this would seriously derail their hopes.
Hence, they quickly signed a free agent over the weekend.
Now that guy has decided to retire.
Is this an Indie movie script or something?
Currently, the Ravens signed another receiver who has amassed 1 catch in 3 years for 6 yards, but assuming that Mason goes through with his retirement, the Ravens have been seriously sideswiped with only days before training camp.
And I have to say: good!
This is not because of ill will towards the Ravens, actually. Rather, it's just that let's see some other AFC North team besides the Browns get hit with some serious bad luck. Remember, the Browns have had to deal with sudden disasters with LeCharles Bentley, William Green, and most recently, Donte Stallworth.
I'm more than happy to watch some other team go through this stuff for a change.
(Well, aside from the Bengals, as they can honestly say that they have suffered through more than the Browns.)
