Face-off

Jun 19, 2007 10:54

Yesterday I had a face-off with a squirrel and lost.

I'll call him the Rabies Factory (RF for short). So I see RF sauntering across the pavement near Seelye on all fours, nothing but sass in his eyes. I stand still to watch him and he slowly walks closer and closer to me until he's within about 1.5 feet, looking me in the eyes the entire time. At this point Liz runs away and tries to convince me not to participate in this battle, but I feel I must. I meet RF's gaze. We try and anticipate each others next moves. RF keeps slowly stepping closer until he's within a foot, I hold my grouned. RF starts circling me. I decide I'm pissed off that this squirrel isn't scared of me so I take my sweatshirt and swing it at him. RF starts charging toward me, I run away screaming. Liz runs away screaming. RF moves to his hind legs and watches us retreat, snickering. I turn around and meet his gaze, he holds his ground. I lose.

True story.

In other news, a puppy came into my job today.

squirrels on steroids, puppies
