Autumn at last....

Sep 01, 2012 17:11

Been busy with work (last minute barbecue stuff) and errands and housework (and RP tags), hence the radio silence but at last...

It's *autumn* (in spirit, if not astronomically). Time to start breaking out the flannel shirts and the autumn decorations for the house, and to keep an eye on the trees as they continue to phase into their autumn foliage.

I'm currently juggling several books, including, but not limited to:

--"The Silent Companion" - an anthology of stories about dolls and the kids who love them; I remember reading this when I was in my pre-teen years, and when I discovered it for pennies on Alibris, I snapped it up.

--"Auntie Mame" - by Patrick Dennis, and the basis for the classic Broadway musical. A New York socialite in the 1920s takes in her orphaned nephew and Hilarity Ensues! Just plain wacky fun.

--"New Cthulhu: The Recent Weird" -- a collection of Lovecraft inspired stories that I've been pecking at for some time now, and

--"Confessions of a Five-Chambered Heart" by Caitlin R. Kiernan - this is just plain awesome and weird and wondrous and creepy and all kinds of adjectives. I might have paid a leetle more than I normally would to get a book (direct from Subterranean Press), but this and it's companion book "The Yellow Book" are the high point of my summer reading!

Also, I need to make up a schedule for ye autumn viewing (via online sources, mostly). So fae I have:

Person of Interest -- Thursday, starting September 27
American Horror Story -- Mondays, starting October 17
Supernatural -- Wednesdays, starting October 3

Will be updating when I get airdates for Mythbusters and one or two others I'd pecking at (Grimm among them).

Also have been tapping away at some of the prompts I'd nicked from dark_fest, which needed someone to write up. Finished drafting a YnM fic, and once I get it typed up, I'll be posting it (hopefully later tonight).
