The Crying of Lot #937

Okay, vague sci-fi novel title reference is vague. I've had a long and rather tiring but good day, so this may not be the most coherent entry.

Went to an antiques auction with my dad this afternoon; it was a box lot auction, so the items were pretty much that: boxes of various treasures all tossed together (ie. boxes of dishes or tools or Christmas stuff or records or knicknacks or books or goodness knows what). Weirdest box of stuff: a bunch of harnessing for a horse, which, after my dad and I joked about it, Vinnie the auctioneer called "The perfect Valentine's Day gift!" (which made me think of D'Angelines of certain persuasions, or a certain energy vampire who rents space in the back of my head...) My dad managed to get the winning bid in on a table saw he'd wanted, while I scored a box of books, mostly ghost stories or random art books (To quote Vinnie as he was pitching the box, "'Haunted Places', 'Ghosts', 'Real Hauntings', 'Surrealists' -- Sounds like my house!"). Of course I wanted the box for the ghost books. We're planning to send the art books back with a few more random books tossed into the box fill it up.

Will have fic and RP tags posted tomorrow. Me brain is tired...

books, family fun, randomosity
