And actually finished early this year. Why so early? I'd volunteered to work the front end this year instead of counting. Got sick of the mewling and puking from teenagers of all ages who don't seem to get that working retail is a bit like being in the military: they tell you to jump, you ask "How high?"
Mind you, I actually like inventory night. It's like a big, weird reunion, since everyone who works in the store -- from the managers to the janitors -- comes in to help out; plus, it's the one night of the year when you don't have to stick to the dress code, either, so you see people coming in wearing all kinds of wacky stuff. Last year I wore my Death Note tee shirt, and two different girls were squee'ing with glee. This year, the wackiest thing I saw someone wear was: leopard print fuzzy slippers with pink trim. Of course the customers coming through were rather perplexed by what was afoot, but they were very understanding once we explained the situation.
