Just... AHS Season Finale...
It was quite a ride, a mad roller-coaster of sorts. I actually felt bad for Ben (!!!) and the fate he came to, though I had a feeling he was going to get it in the end from the nastier denizens of the house. But it was fun to see someone try and do something to keep another family from being preyed on by the nasty forces at work, even if that meant that a whole slew of denizens (the nicer ones, at least) had to turn the place into the nastiest haunted house imaginable.
Also: it was touching to see the Harmon family back together: I know there's fans out there who have little to no sympathy for Vivien and Ben (and I'll admit, I had moments when I wanted to smack them both silly, but, speaking as someone who RP's Viv, she's really a nice person at heart, it's just that her canon showed her at a bad time in her life), but they really weren't bad people, just very messed-up emotionally. The moment before the epilogue, with the four of them and Moira decorating a Christmas tree with "ancient" ornaments from the attic, just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and after thirteen weeks of freakiness, we needed it. I think that's one of the things that makes AHS so scary, is that the horror is taking place in fairly normal circumstances. There were episodes where the Grand Guignol-ness didn't stop for a breath, which made it a bit unbalanced, but the final ep for this season brought things back into balance.
But the last ten minutes... hoo, boy: that kid is like a little blond Damien from "The Omen". I have a feeling we're gonna see a whole lot more of him next season. And there will be a second season: the ending might have reunited the Harmons, albeit in an afterlife (limbo??), but it left a lot of room for things to happen next year. Will the nastier denizens find a way back into the house? And what about that little blond Damien? What's he gonna pull next?
