What did I do to deserve this?
An unexpected day off from work. I was supposed to get up early and work the morning shift -- which is a NIGHTMARE on a Saturday, but as I was shuffling out of bed, my mother knocks on the door, sticks her head in and tells me I can sleep another hour: one of the supervisors had just called to say I didn't have to come in. My guess is that they had to cut hours since the road construction (or destruction?) has been causing people to *not* want to shop at this store, since it's so hard to get to the entrances. I'll have to talk with the Frenchman (Gugh...) and see if he can't find an extra day for me next week. I don't want to lose those hours, and I really can't afford to, especially since I'm trying to buy a new computer.
But, I had a good restful day: did some housework, got some reading in, watched most of a PBS documentary on Bob Dylan (I like his songs, I just find his singing style hard to listen to: he couldn't carry a tune in a 20 gallon pail, or hit a note with a sledgehammer), finished tweaking/typing a fanfic (well, it's kinda co-written with one of the members of the Houseparty. Hey, if Rita Mae Brown can include her cat on the byline of her cat murder mysteries, I can co-write a fanfic with one of my soulbonds: he'd be the first to say he's far more articulate than a cat. You can read it here; the co-author would appreciate the ego-stokingreviews, and I'd love to see what you folks think about it), beating my brains out trying to come up with ideas for this month's round of 31_days fanfic themes. And to make things more interesting the moderator wants us to do AU fics. Problem is, I've seen so many badly-written fics labelled "AU" that it's kinda poisoned the genre for me. Not to say that I don't have a few ideas... we'll see what happens.
Though I *could* conceivably work out a fanfic where Morpheus!Dream isn't killed off by the Furies (::Has a death-wish against Lyta Hall for being such a wangsty bitch; and could slug Neil Gaiman for killing off such a cool character:: )). Or an "MxO" AU where the Assassin doesn't kill off Captain Morpheus (The latest from the news mill suggests that the Merv didn't intend to have the One's mentor killed, but that they only intended to croggle his RSI... Well, here it is from the snarky horse's mouth). Or... or... or... hmmmm, the possibilities...
