And a busy day ensued as well: had a dental appointment, just a routine cleaning, nothing drastic. Clean bill of health: no funny spots that needed to be patched up. Got tea at Dunkin Donuts, went to the bank to take care of some bank stuff, went to the dollar store to pick up a few things. Came home and took care of the housework that I had set aside this weekend, since I spent two lovely days (Friday and Saturday) with my dad in the area in and around Acadia National Park, in Maine. We could have spent another day there, but we wanted to get back home for Sunday Mass. Utterly gorgeous, majestic country: I can see why some folk in Maine refer to people from southern New England as "flat landers". Sweeping vistas, mountains on islands which seem to come down to the edge of the water, quiet bays with rocky shores, loons calling at sunset, ravens cawing in spruce woods, harbors alive with boats, narrow back streets with quirky little shops. Definitely planning to go back.
Sent off "The Handmaid of the Key" to an ezine that's recently opened submissions: the name of it, which I'm not revealing until the story gets accepted, is something that turns up in HPL's writings a lot, so I took it as a good sign, possibly a good place to send my work.
Working on another story, an idea that I've had ticking in my head for some time: might have a possible place to publish it, but will see how that turns out. It's nice to find anthologies with themes that inspire me, but it's another thing to find an anthology with a theme that matches an idea that I'd had lurking in my head or had started scribbling down since it's the kind of story that I really want to see in print.
