where am I from
So I ran across someone posting the 'accent quiz' and I took it. But it placed me in the 'midwest to west accent'. hahahahahahahahahahaha!
It actually said I probably didnt' seem to have an accent!
Those of you who have heard me talk in real life know I speak oddly. It's a speech impediment which has "softened" enough to kinda masquerade as an accent. I've had people guess at where I'm from.
No one seems to accept that I might actually be from *here*. Of course, I live in Northern Virginia and it's really odd to run into people over the age of 25 who were actually born & raised here.
I suffered through 10 years of Speech Therapy in public schools, from 1st grade to 11th, when I finally looked at the speech therapist and told her I didn't want to show up to future lessons. This false accent, though it falls apart and becomes incomprehensible when I get tired/stressed/excited, is wholly mine.
