I went to work today but it didn't really register.
My knees are feeling okay, which is good considering I spent wayyyy too many hours walking. Watched the marathon. My sister finished in 5hrs 39min, with previous injuries, so she would have had a better time if her legs hadn't been feeling like mine ... hmmmmm, maybe it's transference and that's why my knees and feet and legs don't hurt ... something to ponder later. I did find my other sister in the crowds (yeah! for cell phone pinging!)and I even managed to see the marathoner herself in a couple of spots (not as easy as one would think, it seemed that every one in hundred female runners had the right colouring and size to be my sister. Now make that thousands of people running/jogging/walking by...)
Over half the escalators in the metro didn't seem to be moving, so I had to climb alot.
And then there was the lurch. I probably was one of the lamest ones in the crowd, slightly above zombie superman, and wayyy below motorcylce zombie. I was in street clothes, the ones I wore all day. But for the lurch I unzipped my sweatjacket to show my t-shirt, which read "We're ALL *GREY* in the dark - equal rights for ZOMBIES". I lurched all the way to Dupont Circle, then I eased back in the crowd and zipped my jacket up and *poof* back to human and through the metro to retrieve the car to go home. It was fun and if I hadn't been out all day, I might have broken out the 18th century gear and done the dead, but I just had a migraine by the time I got to the lurch that I couldn't face trying to borrow makeup or anything. So yeah, I was calling myself a human activist for the Rights of Zombies.
All told I spent the better part of the day (13 hours) outside and underground.
