Why must people be so fanatical? I was just reading an recent interview with AT, from a Sci Fi magazine, and it sounds like the fanatical S/J shippers have finally pissed AT off. Or at least convinced her they are clinically insane.
Why do people have to get so crazy over a fictional story, and why does ship always seem to bring out the worst in people. Enthusiasm is one thing, writing angry letters to actors is just silly.
I mean I am not the worlds biggest fan of Tu/T on Ent. :D (no offense to anyone who is :)), but I am not going to send letters to CT and JB telling them that their characters are ruined forever and they should just quit acting and go live on a yak farm where no one will have to see their horrible faces ever again. That's just stupid.
I personally would like a happy resolution for S/J on Stargate, I like them together, but it will not be the end of the world if they do not end up a couple. I also have issues with Pete that have nothing to do with ship, but I'm willing to see where that story goes before I declare doomsday. The spoilers for Season 8 have barely begun to appear, who knows what will happen.
I think it is okay to send a letter in support of your ship, but the second you spiral into the desperate, fanatical mind set you are not helping your cause anymore. Once people act like that, all normal, calm, support for something is grouped with the craziness. It's just really depressing when it becomes clear that the insanity has in fact reached the actors themselves, and is coloring their views of the fandom.
