(no subject)
I'm in a back and forth kind of mood lately. I have to say that I'm getting more and more worried about what's going to happen next year with school. It seems like they're days away from canning the honours project which I've been dreaming about doing ever since I started at the university. And they were trying to tell me earlier that I could probably still do one next year if someone will supervise me but now it seems like they're going to go back on that promise. And they're trying to counsel the person who was supposed to supervise me, to not do it and scaring him by telling him how much work it is and how he shouldn't do it. And I'm fed up. I feel like a guinea pig at the moment and that no one really cares what this does to the program or how it affects the students. I have no idea what would be the new requirements for the honours degree, and what a great deal that is to have them change them suddenly right before I'm about to complete my degree. I'm reallu frustrated. They're having a final meeting on it this week so all I can do is sit back and wait.
And on a similar topic, I so desperately want to do the USRA summer research program. MY application is due on the 2nd of February and I'll just be crushed if I don't get it. I've been talking with my supervisor about it, and we were talking about projects. He gave me an R programming question to ponder and I was so excited that I went home Monday night after he posed it and did it. I love programming but I get so little chance. And it looks like this project would be lots of programming. I really hope I get this. If I lose my honours project and the summer research... I'm sure I'll be inconsolable for a while.
In happy news I finished knitting my first sock in the color Party Pink. It took a very longer time to do but that's because I had to learn a whole ton of new techniques and also the use of double pointed needles to complete it. I must say, hand knit socks look really strange but once you put them on your feet you can't tell and they look really nice. Now I just need to get the other foot done and I can wear the sock, not just admire it.
Classes are going well. I have a bit of assignments left to do tonight. Fix a combinatorics question I know I have wrong and then two group theory questions I believe. I'm going to leave the recopying until tomorrow when I have like 3.5 hours to kill after class but before my ride.
But overall good week. I don't know where it went and I can't wait for the weekend to get more sleep. Mmm... sleep
