Party Day!

So I'm quite excited for today. That's right, it's that math/stats departmental New Years party hosted by yours truly and my wonderful executive! This is the first time we're trying out a New Years party. The last two years we've had "Non-denominational Politically Correct Holiday Celebrations" :P, or as I prefer Christmas Parties, but term ended so early this year that it didn't seem right. I'm seriously hoping that we'll get people out today. It'll be very disappointing if we don't. But I"m cheerfully optimistic. Plus, I made cucumber sandwiches actually cut out in the shape of the cucumber so every has to come to enjoy them and admire how adorable they are.
My first week of school is almost over. And I couldn't be happier with how my courses are going. I just love them. I've really never been so enamoured with a semester before. I usually end up with one class that I just dread going to but that's totally not the case. Though i do wish that my complex analysis room would have some heat going through it. I spent the last class wrapped up in a polar fleece blanket the whole time. See, that's the nice thing about being a math major. People expect you to be a bit eccentric and you can get away with things like that :)
This weekend I"m going with my parents to my aunt's cabin about half an hour out of the city. I"ve never been there before. Actually, I hardly ever see my aunt. It's mostly because of the two funerals in the family this year that we've started being in more contact with her. And I did miss her so I'm glad that there's some good coming out of it all.
But i should get back to work. Lots to do before my one class today. Have a great Friday everyone and take care!

new years, heat, family
