Hiter's mother WAS jewish

So I'm sitting on the subway yesterday, looking at the usual mindless adverstisements for CDI College, the Canadian Men's Clinic and the shameless self-promoting by the TTC, when one poster catches my eye; it's an ad for the upcoming Jewish Film Festival and it reads "Discover your inner Jew ( Read more... )

I think you're on the money.
But, I find it interesting that you began your reply with "good thing you're jewish..." Suppose I wasn't, then most people would read me as an anti-semite. I find it amusing that one who is critical of judiaism is labelled an anti-semite.

Also, religion does provide values and a positive influence in one's life, how ever religion also provides a venue for people to take power, and a very unique kind at that. When one has power over another's moral belief system, the potential for corruption, as you noted, is overwhelming.

I actually wrote that to avoid any idiots posting precisely that; that you're some leader of the Klan.

But don't you find that hilarious. Religion in and of itself pretty much means you believe that man (in the humanity snesse of the word) is not the be all and end all. Which begs the question: If you'se down wit religion, why would you answer to any another man but yourself?

It's all about the power structure. We're not all priests and rabbis.

I meant that you're awesome already and to be that witty is unfair, as in you're so bad (bad boy) but it's so good.

Essentially it was a compliment. Hey, I tried.

hey
you have no members in your community but as you created it your probably knowledgable on this subject so i was wondering if you could explain something for me
ive been doing some reading on sociological theories
im a bit confused between conflict theories and consensus theories
ive read that they completely oppose each other and also that they compliment one another? how is it that they compliment one another? what are the main differences between each?

Ah yes, the long forgotten Fiend's Sociology... I created that a few months ago, but I've really only been posting on my own journal, so I doubt that community is going anyone. Plus, as you pointed out, there are no members.

I believe Conflict and Consensus theories compliment each other because they are opposite. Conflict theory will take a Marxist approach to the study of crime and deviance, whereas Consensus theory will take a more Functionalist view. These are complimentry because modern sociology has accepted that no one theory can answer all questions of society. One needs to consider a problem from all different angles because an issue like crime isn't just a social, political or economic issue.

I hope that made some kind of sense...
Just out of curiousity, why do you ask? Are you taking a sociology class?
