Immortality, huh? Ach, that was the great ambition...immortality, but you're implying that this means a change in your looks...is that it?

Yup. End of the line for this body.

From a chrysalis into a butterfly. What's going to happen to your current body?

More like into a moving, steel fortress, but maybe I'll look into a flying one, too! As for this one... ... y'know, I got no idea. Well, not like it's important!

The idea is transformation...still, I don't know anything about immortality, but it's a little worrisome not knowing what's going to happen to your body. I guess I have a bit of a bias...

Ah, but this is good, ja? It's important to be everlasting...and when you say steel fortress does that mean completely impervious?

What's there to worry about? It's not like it's your body. You wouldn't leave that body even for immortality and the world.

I mean that I might end up jumping into somethin' like a real fortress. Like a robot! Or a tank! Or some tank fighter jet thing. A flexible one, like some kinda fold up-fold out transforming robot with all kindsa limbs and weapons, even! No reason to limit myself to a "normal" shape. Nothing's off the table as far as the ultimate body goes!

I'm a connoisseur of beauty and the body is a beautiful thing when done right. Your body is beautiful, so it concerns me a bit.

So you won't need to eat or drink or anything like that?

That's the kinda line that gives people the wrong idea, y'know. But in less flowery words, you're pissed that you're never gonna get to top this body. Give it up. It wasn't happening anyway.

Nope, won't get cravings, won't feel hot or cold, won't get worn out, won't have pain, none of it.

Ah, well I'll just have to add that to the list of things I'll lament not being able to achieve in life, but I really will miss the way you are now.

So you'll be the man who has everything and nothing.

I won't say it wasn't a good time, but... Everything and nothing? What do you mean?

Everything and nothing...well, how to put it. From what you've said to me it just seems like the immortality you're looking for is the blade that cuts both ways.

You want everything there is, right? Immortality will grant you all the time you need to get what you want...so that's a plus, the flip side is keeping it all, keeping everything is...impossible. Of course I imagine anything can be replaced, but nothing can be truly kept...it's kind of like reverse borrowing if you want to look at it that way.

There's also being immortal and experiencing immortality, you'll be impregnable and no one and nothing will be able to defeat you or tear you down, you won't be dependent on anything to sustain you. A fine attribute for immortality, but at the same time won't you be watching all of your efforts through a scope? I'm all about sensation so maybe I'm strange that way, but if I can't feel my efforts with my senses then I'd question the reality...I think I'd be left wanting more too.

Heh... You, the mechanic, the temple with the tan... None of you get it.

I'll feel my efforts. I've still got a mind, damn it. Not having a body just means I won't get to craving anything with it anymore. But everything I want to happen'll happen how I want it to happen! I'll be able to keep shit around until I don't want it any more. I'll have everything; I'll make a way. If I can make myself last forever, I can make anything else last as long as I want...

Eeeeh? But I don't understand...I mean things you can upgrade or replace...you can't really keep them the way they are forever...and all organic beings have a set shelf life so that's not something you can keep forever either, cryonics could probably make them last longer, but inevitably those are things that can't be kept unless you want to make them immortal too. I think that would be risky.

As for the rest...well that's probably a me complex, I enjoy enjoy being able to use my senses...although the mind is a powerful thing too, so there is something to be said about it.

Organic things might have a shelf life, but they also reproduce. All is one, one is all, all of that. So they'll keep makin' new organic things... or, reshaping itself to be new and interesting. I'll... set 'em up to make new things and die off at about the rate I want 'em at... Eventually without even havin' to think about wanting it!

Ach...I think I get it now! So having people is having people, the individual person doesn't matter so long as you have people...it's more like...a general thing isn't it? But in the end it's still replacing.

If I want one person around, I'll keep them around. But I'm lucky. I don't... I'm not too big on specific people--it's not like I'm a cold guy or anything, but... It's not like everyone wants to live forever, and I'm not the kinda guy who'd wanna force it and... well, you get it, right? It'd be a problem if I was a guy with wants that were bad for a lot of people, but I'm usually a Nice Guy just by nature, so, that's...
