So...I'm in the computer lab. Remember the good old days when I was sort of okay with that? Yeah...well I have gotten rather sick of it. I get sick of all mindless jobs though; remember when I was working at Earthboad sifting crab cages? Yeah...
So, the semester is Almost over. All I have left is presentation on Thursday of analysis, design conecpt, and scene from Betting on the Dust Commander, by Suzan Lori Parks. Should be interesting. The costumes I pretty much have squareed away; just have to write a snippet about the concept and do a couple sketches, and I'll type up some dramaturgical world stuff tonight.
Today I turned in my Dionysos paper, which is a good paper, by the way. Dr. Finelli, as I suppose I must start calling him again? read the paper and put it in his bbox for me to pick up so I can see his notes. I wouldn't mind trying to get it published or something...also, speaking of publishable work, I went ahead and just sent a list of questions to the Blue Monkey Sideshow group, so hopefully that will bear fruit :)
Also today, I went with WIlliam to Montissory (I'm probably spelling that wrong) where he is directing a play. He vaguely told the teachers that I was there to work on movement with the leads or something. Well, being that I have never worked with kids before, in a teaching way, and hell, I really just haven't interacted with too many younger kids in awhile, I was rather nervous. I was at first trying to just go in and watch him, with the idea that I could see the kids in that way and thereby determine what I was going to do with them another time. Well, I decided to refresh my memory of the Tony Tassa warmup, so that if I felt like it, or had to, I could pull that out and use that with the kids. So we get there, and you know - in a play there's usually like...5-25 people, depending. Therefore, I did not expect to see 50 someodd kids all in one room when I got there. Talk bout even more intimidating! I didn't even know how I was going to get so many kids into a circle! And then Will introduced me as someone there to work with the kids, and I knew my fate was sealed to warm these children up.
Luckily, as with most schools, there was a big backyard thing, so I managed to get 53 children in a circle outside, and managed to project loud enough for them all to understand me. I will say now that it was Thrilling to have them all following along in excitement! And it was endearing the way a group of girls encircled me, and how they would look at me during the rehearsal and smile their cute little smiles :)
What fun! So, I'll be helping him more; I took notes during the run thru of the first half about which characters I could/should work with as far as voice and movement are concerned, like witches, bears, prince's, etc.
What fun :) I imagine it will be a good learning experience for me too. Hell, the kids were so neat, it made me ask about the process of teaching at one of these schools. It could be a neat sidetrek...
So...I wonder what grades I'll have ;), oh that reminds me, I need to call Fanni about something regarding TAships...theres some issues with my Summer A now, because of various factors.
I like the word various now...heh.
Okay...time to do something productive...or less silly...or whatever...
