We keep getting tremors to the tune of 4~5 per day. Some are little wiggles, some are pretty strong, but nothing compared to the big one from Friday. The news keeps mentioning a 70% probability of another 7+ magnitude quake in the immediate future, and that's got Yoko worried (as might be expected). I'm a little tired of worrying; we have emergency kit packed in Yoko's car, and have it parked next to a window in case we need to run away, but I'm doing my best to get back into my normal routine.

Gene went back to day care today. We were debating sending him back last night, but we decided that he would be a) warmer and b) well fed, taking some of the pressure off of our resources. I think it will be good for him to get back into his normal routine as well.

Our biggest worry is fuel-related. With the highways and railways shutdown, tanker trucks for gasoline and kerosene can't get through. Those few gas stations that still have supplies are either refusing everyone except emergency vehicles or else have lines 1km or longer. Yoko is staying home from school since she has no way to get to Ninohe from home, and I'm biking in every day. Yesterday we went to look at bicycles with baby seats so we can get Gene to and from daycare without burning any of the remaining gas in either car.

Food is a weird situation as well. We stocked up as best we could on rice, but we only have about 6kg and no idea when the stores will be able to restock. I picked up some milk yesterday, as well as flour and yeast so I can make bread, and we're going through our perishables before we go to packaged food. There are some supply lines oped, mostly for local products, but everyone is trying to stock up in case of lean times, so timing is everything. I haven't felt insecure about food since my broke college student days...

Phone service is coming back up here and there, but the fiber-optic internet/phone lines we have at home are apparently lower priority than regular land line service. No big deal, really, as cellular service is pretty reliable right now. I'm posting this from work.

Mostly we're in sit and wait mode. Lots of things out of our control, so we're making the best of it. Thanks to everyone for your concern.
