Pop/rock today is slut/hypeville. Britney Spears. Nelly. Pink. Offspring. What kinds of artists are those?
Here are some of what I consider to be real artists:
Queen
Weird Al Yankovic
Elton John
Van Halen
Simple Plan
Green Day
The Beatles
The Doors
Goo Goo Dolls
The Monkees
U2
Fastball
Simon & Garfunkel
Michelle Branch
Cyndi Lauper
Led Zeppelin

Third Eye Blind

Jimmy Eat World

There are, of course, more, but these are some 22 of my favorite artists. There are more, of course, but there wouldn't be enough room.
The point is, a lot of music today is hyped. It's like, "I like so-and-so cause he/she is cool!" I mean, it's not a question of whether the music is actually any good -- it's "being cool." Some people would say that Fastball isn't cool -- and neither is Jimmy Eat World. I, however, don't care. Their music is good.
