Publishing Update
I submitted "queries" to various agents last night. I know, I'm not done with the re-reading, yet, but I'm close. By the time one would get back to me, assuming they liked my work and wanted to know more. There's a whole etiquette to how things are submitted, how long it takes to hear back, assuming you hear back at all, how many agents at a time you should be courting, when to move on to a new one, exclusivity rights, agent-client contracts... it's a whole big mess. I'm glad I read up on what to do before I started sending off random e-mails to people. I haven't checked my e-mail yet today and I don't expect to find anything. The soonest they said I'd hear from someone is 2 weeks after querying submission. So now it's just a waiting game. Sadly, I have all the free time in the world to wait and will likely lose my mind before anything happens.
