The Worlds Most Dangerous Golf Course

Jul 08, 2006 22:10

There you have it, the single hole golf course, surrounded by 3 minefields on the side, at Camp Bonifas in the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Better not slice that ball or you might set of one of the mines! =) Say, I'd like to get shot there sometime. Anybody care to join?

"You literally could get killed at one featured hole. It's at Camp Bonifas at Panmunjom in the Korea Demilitarized Zone. That's the heavily patrolled corridor between North and South Korea, an hour north of Seoul. Visitors must first sign a release acknowledging that entry into this hostile area could result in injury or death. They also must agree not to try to communicate with the North Koreans because your idea of a friendly wave may be just the gesture they've been waiting for to start World War III. The golf course consists of only one hole, a plain 192-yard, par 3 with an artificial turf green. A sign on the hole warns, "Danger. Do not retrieve golf balls from the rough. Live mine fields." In 1988, Sports Illustrated called it the world's most dangerous course."
