dagger=I was wondering if your love of knives would fall into this. Yes, dagger is an old term, but you and I are old school.

I love the similes of daggers and the dyke lifestyle = hardened steel, blood letting, hidden or in your face, dangerous, protection to be worn closely, shaped by fire and pounding hardship, fighting in close combat, etc....
