Some Science for your Saturday

Some food for thought... Or science for your plot bunnies...

Living cells used to create 'biotic' video games - I thought this was an awesome idea to interact with single-cell organisms and learn about the biological process, though it does bring into question just how far some will go to 'learn'.  Some might not have a problem because they are ( Read more... )

The sun rose 48 hours early in Greenland. The little graphic is adorable, and keeps me from thinking too hard about the rest of it. (Seriously, that's a lot of ice gone.)

Dude, Mt. Etna is always erupting. I was in Sicily about 8 years ago and it erupted a few weeks after I left. According to wiki, there's been one every year since then. It would be an incredible site to study biological succession and recovery. It's too bad that the area is always getting destroyed though. Scientific soapboxes are awesome. :) I was commenting on the subject that Riedel-Kruse had brought up in the article due to multiple test players asking where the line would be drawn as far as how complex the creatures would be to use in these types of experiements and I was trying to avoid offense to anyone here.

Ah, see I just skimmed over the actual article. *blush* ADHD is a bitch. From that respect, thank you for correctly summarizing your sources :)

science is cool. I looked at the pics of that volcano and went "WOWWWWWWW."

I liked the sniper rifle article. the comments were quite illuminating, too. a fun post-school project would be to do a little research and write a technologically astute Tali or Garrus fic. the terminology and mumbo jumbo would really bring it a sense of reality, I feel.

I could look at volcano pics all day. As long as I'm nowhere near them, I think they're pretty spectacular.

I would definitely read a technologically astute Tali and Garrus fic. :)
