Maybe it was too much of a realistic ending?

... haven't they already said dozens of times that the EC isn't changing anything? I wasn't under the impression this was a revelation anymore.

I do get tired of the idea that "real" automatically equates death and misery, though. That said, most VAs don't play the games themselves or really have much of an understanding of the larger picture, because it's just one job of many for them, so I can't say I put a lot of stock in her opinion of the ending.

No, Shepard didn't "have to" die. She already died once. What I never understood is why they flaked out on giving us the options to craft the ending we wanted, so the people that want the dramatic sacrifice can have it, and the people who wanted the finally free of this hell ending could have that.

They have. And I'm not surprised by what she's saying at all. I do know, though, that there's at least a small pocket of people who are still holding out that Bioware would adopt Indoctrination Theory, and there are some who think EC will change the ending without really "changing" anything. This is just more proof, as far as I'm concerned, that neither of those things are true.

And I pretty much agree with everything else you said, too.

I have long since abandoned the Land of Wishful Thinking and have ensconced myself deep in Fort Fanfic.

I too, live in Denial Land of Headcanons and make up my own endings that nobody else has to have or accept. Though I do actually look forward to experiencing the Extended Cut to learn Bioware's intended motives for certain character actions.

Yeah, cause things like the Starchild and a machine that can alter everyone in the galaxy are super realistic.
